Advanced Manufacturing

SPRI has developed a definition exercise for an advanced manufacturing strategy. The mission of the strategy is to strengthen the positioning of the Basque Country, Euskadi, as an industry-based economy, by boosting knowledge-intensive manufacturing, with a country perspective, with optimum conditions for manufacturing, thanks to the existence of a skilled industrial fabric, highly trained scientific and technological experts and highly qualified human capital.

Wind power advanced manufacturing centre

Located at the IK4-TEKNIKER technology centre in Eibar, it follows the premise of being based on cutting-edge world technology and generating important profits for its companies, thereby enabling the value chain to maximise its business opportunities in both the domestic and international markets.

The ultimate goal of this wind power advanced manufacturing centre is to improve the global technological and competitive positioning of Basque suppliers of subsystems and products for the wind energy sector.

We understand Advanced Manufacturing as the generation and application of knowledge, experience and cutting edge technology to create products, production processes and high added value services, with great potential impact in terms of wealth and employment, including the fields of materials, processes, resources and systems.

Goals

  • To enhance and give added value to those resources, investments, skills and knowledge that our entrepreneurs are already proven to have available.
  • To support the incorporation of technologies: nanotechnology, biotechnology, ICT and new energy technologies (smart grids, offshore, etc.) that help Basque companies manufacture even better, be differentiated and become more competitive, both in cost and in product.
