Invest in the Basque Country

We help your strategic suppliers to
establish themselves in the Basque Country to strengthen your value chain.

Attracting Strategic Suppliers

The Invest in the Basque Country initiative attracts strategic suppliers to the Basque Country to become part of our ecosystem, either with a production facility or an R&D centre.

In an increasingly unpredictable global context (pandemics, armed conflicts, rising raw material and freight costs, etc.), the need for a strategic local supplier base is becoming ever more important.

Despite the fact that the Basque Country boasts a powerful industrial ecosystem, it is possible that certain components or services are not available here and are instead purchased from suppliers located abroad.

To address this, SPRI has launched this initiative to find out what technologies or components may be missing in our value chain, with the aim of working to attract strategic suppliers to the Basque Country.

When strategic suppliers are close at hand, they save your company both time and money.

What it offers you

How does it work?
The key: detecting the supply needs of Basque companies

01
DETECTING OPPORTUNITIES

Basque companies should initially reflect on which of their current foreign suppliers might consider a hypothetical physical establishment in the Basque Country, as well as the benefits that the company and the Basque economy would gain from this new establishment.

02
CONTRAST

Once this analysis has been carried out, the Basque company will contact the foreign supplier in order to gauge their potential interest in establishing themselves in the Basque Country.

03
SENDING THE FORM

The company will fill in the form, providing the details of specific suppliers that they believe could be brought to the Basque Country, or even those areas or technologies for which they do not know a specific supplier, but they believe it would be highly beneficial for their business if they were located in the Basque Country.

04
JOINT VIDEO CONFERENCE

A video conference between the parties involved: Basque company, foreign supplier, cluster or business association (if they have participated in the process) and Invest in The Basque Country. During this meeting, each party will present their interests or needs in order to initially determine the feasibility of a potential site in the Basque Country.

05
ESTABLISHMENT PROJECT

In the case of initial positive interest, Invest in The Basque Country will draft an establishment project plan for the foreign supplier covering the following sections: Industrial Ecosystem, Possible Locations, Assistance and Programmes Supported by Governmental Authorities, Taxation, etc.

Who it is for

For Basque companies that want to accelerate their supply chain, reduce production lead times, improve service or gain efficiency and flexibility.

And they can contribute by assisting their suppliers in the establishment process or by letting them know the supply needs they have identified in their sector or market.

Strategy

The Strategic Supplier Attraction initiative has been developed in collaboration with key clusters and business associations in the Basque Country.

And it is led by theInvest in the Basque Country, team at the SPRI Group, which works to attract and sustain quality foreign investment.

For the fourth consecutive year, the Financial Times has highlighted the work done to attract investment and has named the Basque Country as the most attractive medium-sized European region in terms of its strategy to secure foreign investment.

Frequently Asked Questions

In an increasingly unpredictable global context (pandemics, armed conflicts, rising raw material and freight costs, etc.), the need for a strategic local supplier base is becoming ever more important. The initiative was created to find out which technologies or components are missing in our value chain, with the aim of working to attract strategic suppliers to the Basque Country.

If you are interested in participating in this initiative or would like further information, you can contact the Invest in the Basque Country team using the form at the bottom of the Strategic Supplier Attraction service page.

The initiative seeks strategic suppliers in the RIS3 field to be incorporated into our ecosystem and fill any potential gaps that may exist in the value chain. The service is designed to attract both specific suppliers of interest to Basque companies, as well as areas or technologies where companies do not have an identified supplier and a local supplier would be highly beneficial for their business.

The initiative has been developed in collaboration with key clusters and business associations in the Basque Country.

  • The process begins with a Basque company assessing and identifying potential opportunities. Once this analysis has been carried out, the Basque company will contact the foreign supplier in order to gauge their potential interest in establishing themselves in the Basque Country.
  • Next, the company fills in the form where they can detail both specific suppliers and areas or technologies for which they do not know a specific supplier, but a supplier located in the Basque Country would be highly beneficial for their business.
  • Next, the Invest in The Basque Country team at SPRI will then organise a video conference between the parties involved to determine the initial feasibility of a potential site in the Basque Country.
  • Finally, in case of initial positive interest, the Invest in The Basque Country group will draft and establishment project for the foreign supplier.

If you are interested in participating in this initiative or would like further information, you can contact the Invest in the Basque Country team using the form at the bottom of the Strategic Supplier Attraction service page.
