Konbus+: Controlled temperature and high velocity thermal spray systems
Vertical: Thermal spraying
Project description
Konbus+ seeks to overcome the intrinsic limits of current thermal spray equipment by expanding the range of processable materials and the quality of the coatings generated, in addition to lowering the operating expenses (OPEX) associated to the thermal management during the coating process and gas consumption.
The initiative is based on new thermal spray technologies developed by TECNALIA. Thus, its HVOAF (High Velocity Oxy/Air Fuel) thermal spray system can operate in a wide range of speed and gas temperature conditions. This allows conventional coatings and ones with special characteristics and on complex surfaces. Furthermore, the team has internationally recognised experience in the development of coating and surface engineering using the most advanced spray techniques (HVOAF, HFPD, HVOF) to develop high valued added solutions in the aviation, transform health and metal transformation sectors.
Konbus+ has control software that can be used with the spray systems developed by TECNALIA and those currently now on the market alike.
Tagline: Controlled temperature and high velocity thermal spray systems.
Financing needs:
First investment round (covered by BasqueTek): €250,000
Second investment round (to be undertaken in 2027): €1.6 million
Market
The sized of the global thermal spray coating market was valued at 10-12 billion in 2019 and is forecast to expand at an annual compound rate of 6.9% between 2020 and 2027. (OPEX).
