Basque Premier visits Aernnova’s plant in the Alava town of Berantevilla

Pradales highlights the strategic importance of the Basque aeronautical and aerospace industry

Lehendakari, Basque Premier Imanol Pradales, visited this morning the Aernnova plant located in the town of Berantevilla (Álava). During his remarks, the Lehendakari reaffirmed the Basque Government’s commitment to the aeronautical and aerospace sector, emphasizing its strategic role as “a symbol of an advanced Basque industry.”

During the visit to the facilities of the company —a leading specialist in advanced technology aerostructures— the Lehendakari was accompanied by Mikel Jauregi, Minister of Industry, Energy Transition and Sustainability; Iñaki López Gandásegui, President of Aernnova; Ricardo Chocarro, CEO; Hipólito Suárez, Secretary General and Corporate Director; Gemma Ortiz de Barrón, Director of Institutional Relations; and Nestor Aristegui, Managing Director of Aernnova Aeroestructuras Álava.

The delegation toured the plant, and in this context, Imanol Pradales highlighted the founding spirit of Aernnova:

“Aernnova has stayed true to its founding spirit. It takes risks, invests, and looks to the future with enthusiasm — always guided by one principle: developing innovative aeronautical technologies that drive sustainability and efficiency in the sector, contributing to a more responsible future,” said the Lehendakari.

In times of uncertainty, Pradales emphasized the need to convey confidence:

“All the more so in a company and a sector that are strategic for Euskadi. That is why the Basque Government will, as always, be where it needs to be — ready to take risks and move forward, ready to be that part of the equation that guarantees rootedness and creates the conditions for quality employment,” he underlined.

Within this framework, Pradales referred to the importance of the recently approved ‘Euskadi Eraldatuz 2030’ investment plan as a pillar of Euskadi’s economic future:

“Companies like Aernnova give our country strength and wings — generating quality employment and wealth, driving and attracting talent, and contributing to securing our collective wellbeing,” concluded the Lehendakari.

Currently, Aernnova designs and/or manufactures structures and related components for more than 30 aircraft models, employs 5,900 people (of whom 1,500 are based in Euskadi), and records annual revenues close to €1 billion.
