Description/Objective
Support for Industrial Research or Experimental Development projects, both competitive and strategic, in the business sector of the Basque Country and in the areas of specialisation of the Basque Country 2030 Science, Technology and Innovation Plan. It has 2 different lines of support:

  • Competitive R&D projects: aimed at both the development of new products, processes and services and the launch of New Science and Technology Based Companies (NSTBC). They can be carried out individually or cooperatively and require a total annual budget of at least €100,000.
  • Strategic R&D projects: arising from business leadership and taking advantage of the scientific and technological capabilities of the Basque Country; they can be carried out either cooperatively or individually. They require a minimum budget of €4 M and a maximum duration of 3 years.

EMAITEK PLUS_ €70,000,000

Description/Objective
Support for the non-economic activity of Multi-focused Technology Centres and Cooperative Research Centres (CICs) of the Basque Science, Technology and Innovation Network (RVCTI), assigning them funding by evaluating and analysing the results of their activity at a global level.

The programme aims to improve results and capacities and orient them towards the market, working along the entire R&D value chain and focusing on acquiring new knowledge with future prospects in the areas of specialisation of the Basque Country 2030 Science, Technology and Innovation Plan. It also promotes collaboration between the different agents of RVCTI.

ELKARTEK_ €42,000,000

Description/Objective
Support for Collaborative Research carried out by the Research, Development and Innovation Entities of the Basque Science, Technology and Innovation Network (RVCTI) in the areas of specialisation included in the Basque Country 2030 Science, Technology and Innovation Plan (PCTI). It has 3 different lines of support:

  • Fundamental Collaborative Research Projects: carried out collaboratively by RVCTI agents from at least three categories of RVCTI agents in RIS3 priority areas. They may be multi-annual and require a minimum total budget of €1,000,000 per project and €50,000 per participating entity/year.
  • Research Projects with High Industrial Potential: oriented fundamental research projects or industrial research projects led by Business R&D Units belonging to RVCTI, with high traction and market reach in the areas of specialisation of the 2030 PCTI, carried out individually or cooperatively with other RVCTI agents. They may be multi-annual and require a minimum total budget of €200,000 per project and €50,000 per participating entity/year.
  • Complementary Actions of Special Interest: intermediation projects between technological supply and demand, developed exclusively by Supply-Demand Intermediation Agencies and RVCTI Dissemination Agencies in the areas of specialisation of the 2030 PCTI. They may be carried out individually or cooperatively between different agencies and may be multi-annual in nature.

AZPITEK_ €6,812,500

Description/Objective

Support for the acquisition, installation and updating of scientific-technical equipment necessary for the execution of quality research; the improvement of results and their scientific-technological, economic and social impact; and the operative improvement of existing infrastructures.

Scientific-technical equipment is considered to be the set of physical means (equipment) and facilities (enclosure provided with the necessary physical means) required for the development of R&D+i activities.

BIKAINTEK_ €5,670,000

Description/Objective

Support for the development of R&D projects through the incorporation of research personnel with doctoral degrees and the completion of industrial doctorates, both in companies located⁠—or having a productive facility⁠—in the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country and in certain agents of the Basque Science, Technology and Innovation Network, favouring labour insertion from the beginning of their professional careers and raising the competitiveness of the Basque productive fabric by incorporating talent. It has two different lines of support:

  • Hiring of people with doctoral degrees for dedicated R&D projects developed by the beneficiary entities.
  • Training of industrial doctoral students by co-financing the labour costs of research personnel in training who participate in an industrial research project, within the areas of specialisation of the 2030 PCTI, as part of their doctoral thesis.

Beneficiaries
Companies located—or having a productive facility—in the Basque Country and agents in the Basque Science, Technology and Innovation Network, in the categories of Cooperative Research Centres, Technology Centres and Business R&D Units.
