honeypot

A computer security mechanism set to detect, deflect or deactivate attempts at unauthorized access to a computer system.

A honeypot consists of hardware or software tools that pretend to be real vulnerable computers, and pretend to be legitimate parts of a certain site. They seem to be a resource of value to attackers, but actually, they are isolated and monitored and make it possible to block or analyze the attackers.
