Basque specialist machine tool company Danobat is to supply Greenbrier Rail Services, U.S. leader in the supply of rail transport equipment and services, with two cutting-edge wheelset machining units for its railway axle maintenance depots.
Greenbrier Rail Services has ordered a portal lathe for re-profiling wheel sets and a high performance grinding machine for machining axles. Moreover, the order includes preventive maintenance, installation, assembly and the training required to handle the equipment.
The equipment ordered by the U.S. firm is intended to provide Greenbrier with state-of-the-art machinery and cutting-edge technology, thereby contributing to greater automation in its processes.
This contract means an important endorsement of the Basque group’s commitment to the U.S. market, a country which it considers as one of its strategic priorities and where it seeks to achieve sustainable growth. Last year, the United States became the leading market for Danobat in volume of orders.
This upward trend in the U.S. market was reinforced in 2014, when Danobat formed a joint venture with Marathon, an operation that reinforced its presence in the American market.
