The technology company Microliquid, which specializes in the development of plastic microfluidic products and services for the manufacture of microfluidic structures, plans to launch the ‘fProbes’ microneedle.
The microneedle is designed to record neuronal activity and release drugs in a controlled manner at the same time.
MicroLiquid has carried out testing locally and will soon launch a programme to test these needles in top research centres worldwide. The company hopes that these tests will give valuable insights into the opinion of these researchers with improvements that can be incorporated.
This innovation has been developed jointly by the CSIC (Spanish National Research Council for Scientific Research), the University of Zaragoza and IK4-IKERLAN. They have the patent for the manufacturing process and the needle patent has been applied for.
