SPRI Group, the Basque business development agency, has shown an institutional and business delegation from Taiwan the possibilities of investing in sectors such as energy, machine tools, automotive or information and communication technologies (ICT) in the Basque Country. The meeting took place on 22 May and the Asian country’s delegation was led by Han Sun Chien, Vice President of the Chinese International Economic Cooperation Association (CIECA). The visit also sought to strengthen business relations with the Basque Country and witness Basque industrial capacity first hand.
An internal meeting was held with the delegation, composed of different Taiwanese institutions and companies in the energy, machine tools, automotive and ICT sectors. At this meeting, the Director of the SPRI International Department, Miren Madinabeitia, together with executives of Invest in the Basque Country and the ACICAE automotive cluster, provided an overall vision of Basque capabilities, with a view to increasing trade and investment in this country.
After the meeting, at the request of the interested Taiwanese companies, meetings were held with Basque companies in the automotive and ICT sectors. Following that, the delegation was taken to learn about the capabilities of the Tecnalia Ingrid laboratory in the field of Smart Grids (intelligent energy distribution networks), before embarking on the return trip to Taiwan.
