Basque company Ingeteam has launched a new range of chargers for electric buses onto the market. They meet the high energy demands of this type of vehicles for urban use and give them a range of between 100 and 120 kilometres.
Urban electric buses are an alternative that provides multiple advantages to conventional transport, from both the economic and the environmental point of view. Currently, however, this market is at a very primitive stage, in which existing technologies are still being evaluated.
Ingeteam has developed a charger specifically for this type of transport vehicles, enabling them to cover a range of between 100 and 120 kilometres after being charged for approximately three hours.
The estimated saving for the electric bus operator, compared to a diesel vehicle, could be between 25,000 to 40,000 euros a year, according to data from the manufacturer.
A city with a fleet of urban electric buses would considerably reduce emissions and noise due to the smoothness with which they operate.
