Ingeteam, in collaboration with a group of Basque enterprises, has launched the Etorgai R&D project known as MainWind, endowed with a budget of 6.5 million euros, whose purpose is to develop a system to analyse the condition of the main wind turbine components, so as to be able to carry out predictive maintenance for both on-shore and off-shore applications.

The Ingeteam initiative incorporates technologies that enable maximisation of the financial and energy profitability of the operation and maintenance of land and marine wind parks.
To achieve this, this project proposes going beyond current practice in the operation and maintenance of land-based wind turbines by incorporating diverse technologies, such as on-line sensorisation, structural monitoring and fault prognosis.

The benefits provided by this project include a reduction in wind park maintenance costs, since there is a reduction in stoppage times to undertake maintenance, as well as in the hours of supervision for each wind park. It also helps to reduce energy loss during these wind turbine stoppages.
