The US Ambassador to Spain, James Costos, has contacted the Basque bioscience sector in order to learn about its current situation and explore future opportunities for cooperation between companies in both countries.
Ambassador Costos met the Vice President and General Manager of Basque Biocluster, Julio Font and Juan Pedro López-Araguas, respectively, to learn about the scientific and technological capabilities of the sector, its R&D endeavours, as well as its portfolio of high technology and high impact “bio” products and services.
In a recent statement, made in Barcelona, Ambassador James Costos, emphasizing the commitment of the United States to facilitate trade and bilateral investments, stated that “it is evident that there are huge opportunities for growth and investment on both sides of the Atlantic and, by working together, we can maximize that potential”.
In total harmony with this statement, this visit by the US Ambassador has provided an opportunity for the Basque bioscience sector to present its credentials, in its aim of searching for promotion channels in the attractive American “bio” markets, not only in its facet as customers, but also as regards investor circuits, for collaboration in marketing and/or in joint developments, etc. which, ultimately, are very advanced, well structured, dynamic and with enormous potential for the companies that work in this field as a whole.
