During its participation in the Intermodal South America, a meeting forum held in São Paulo, attended by numerous forwarding and shipping agents, Uniport Bilbao promoted new traffic between the port of Bilbao and South America and made progress on projects already underway.
Highlighted among the novelties was the new service offered by the Maersk shipping line from the port of Bilbao to the port of Manaus, with a transit time of 35 days. Manaus is the capital city of the Brazilian state of Amazonas, the main financial, corporate and economic centre in northern Brazil, with a metropolitan area of more than 2 million inhabitants.
During the event, Bilbao was represented by an important group of companies made up of Auxema Stemmann Española, IDOM, Matransa; Maersk Spain, Onecargo, Paceco España, Space Cargo Norte, Sparber Group, Traimer, Talleres Hilfa, Vasco Catalana Group; Vasco Shipping Services.
Uniport Bilbao is one of the clusters defined by the Basque Government to represent a strategic sector of the economy.
It has about 130 members, including almost all the private port companies, as well as institutions with responsibilities in the development of the port.
