Tecnalia, first Spanish laboratory to obtain accreditation to test armoured doors

Tecnalia Technology Corporation has obtained accreditation awarded by ENAC (Spanish National Accreditation Body) to test armoured doors, the highest quality distinction recognition that may be granted to a laboratory.
This milestone makes Tecnalia the first laboratory in Spain to be accredited by ENAC to carry out the necessary tests to characterise the physical security of a door or window. Like this, the technology centre is established as an accredited reference laboratory after a long and proven track record of mechanical and security testing.
There is increasing market demand for burglar resistant armoured doors for installation in homes, buildings, offices and public places. Doors of this type, less vulnerable than reinforced doors, are mainly formed by steel plates and metal reinforcements. They might sometimes include plates of other rigid materials.
Tecnalia, which applies the European standard, establishes 6 security levels that cover a very broad spectrum of burglar characteristics; from the opportunist who just takes a few hand tools and does not expect to get rich pickings, to the professional with powerful electrical tools, who knows the target and is willing to take risks.
ENAC recognition allows the laboratory in the construction services division of Tecnalia to perform not only security tests (live and dead load or manual attack) but also those for air permeability, watertightness and wind resistance, acoustic and thermal insulation.
