They will stay in the Basque Country 2 days and visit companies and the Tecnalia Technology Corporation.
A delegation from the German region of Bavaria, led by its Secretary of State for Economy, met representatives of the SPRI Group, the Basque business development agency, dependent on the Basque Government Department for Economic Development and Infrastructure, on Tuesday, 29 November, in Bilbao. The visit is the result of the institutional mission to Bavaria just one year ago, headed by Minister Arantxa Tapia. That meeting served to launch a strategy of collaboration between institutions and economic players in both regions in the fields of industry and technology.
The visit by the German representatives began on Monday with a meeting of Minister Arantxa Tapia and Franz Josef Pschierer, State Secretary in the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs and Media, Energy and Technology, followed by a visit to Tecnalia Technology Corporation.
The Minister for Economic Development and Infrastructure, Arantxa Tapia and the Bavarian State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy, Franz Josef Pschierer, presided over a working day which was attended by representatives of institutions and corporations such as Invest in Bavaria, Messe München, Fraunhofer Group | Universität Bayreuth and several industrial sector clusters, as well as industrial and telecommunications companies.
In the session on Tuesday, a meeting took place between Basque and Bavarian institutions and companies, involving over thirty executives of clusters and companies in the Basque Country.
The Governments of Bavaria and the Basque Country signed a cooperation agreement in July 2014, which has highlighted that digitization for the Basque Country, Euskadi, and the cluster policy for Bavaria are two points for improvement in which mutual assistance is offered. Minister Tapia already made clear, during her visit to Bavaria a year ago, that both regions have something to learn from and something to teach each other.
Among other activities, the Basque Country and Bavaria are focusing on the search for foreign investment, while at the same time there is significant trade between the two countries, both in import/export figures and in the location of production plants.
