Mercedes to invest €34M to produce new vans at its Vitoria plant

The Mercedes-Benz Daimler Group has expanded its van production plans for the plant in Vitoria. In addition to the electric Vito production project, the V-Class has also been confirmed, making two electric models that will be in series production at the Vitoria plant in 2019.

The factory management has confirmed that investments of between 6 and 10 million euros are to be mobilised for the Vito zero emissions, in order to adapt the Basque facilities, whereas the amount could range between 14 and 24 million euros for the V-Class.

With the creation of 600 new full-time jobs announced by the management, to be filled in the latter part of 2017, a total of 1,350 new employees will have joined the workforce of the Mercedes-Benz plant in Vitoria in the space of one year.
