2 July, 2015

Catering company Eurest Euskadi, belonging to the Compass Group, has invested €2.5m in equipping its new central kitchens, located in the Biscayan town of Derio, business journal Expansión has reported.

The new facilities, located in premises beside the headquarters of Eurest Euskadi, are intended especially to design and prepare meals for Basque schools that the schools segment of the company provides service to.  More specifically, these kitchens will produce daily menus for public, subsidized and private schools in the education network served by Eurest Euskadi, most of which are in Bizkaia.
Its estimated production capacity has risen to 15,000 meals a day with a workforce that currently consists of 50 people and is expected to expand in the future if growth expectations are met.

This important investment in the Basque Country also coincides with the 50th anniversary of Eurest in Spain, where it serves 78 million meals a year, caters for 2,300 customers and employs more than 12,000 people.
